Sâal Couture // Espace P // DASPU
Sex workers are stylish and beautiful. They create meaningful shapes, sewed with stories of dignities and made from proudness. Sâal Couture and Espace P will present their clothing projects, from their process to the final object.
Sâal Couture: “I use clothing as a space for gender expression and struggle. My approach is to recycle old clothes to make new ones. I play with their shapes, materials and brands. In this way, I impose my own on them: a more disguised, militant and ecological look”.
Filles de joie et Fils de soie is an underwear design project initiated by Espace P and developed with a group of committed sex workers.
DASPU was created in 2005 by Gabriela Leite, a pioneer of the sex workers movement in Brazil. Daspu is short for « Das Putas », meaning (designed) by the whores. It is the name of a clothing brand created to raise funds for the sex worker NGO Davida, that will be presented by Flavio and Friederike.
